箱式景观护坡模具采用的都是钢板材质的，而且箱型护坡模具属于异形尺寸的，需要单定制仿石花纹，这就需要厂家具备塑料模具注塑能力以及钢模板加工能力。目前使用箱型砌块的工程非常多，除了常见的河道、水利护坡外，在景观护坡、高速公路护坡等都会使用到。过去使用箱型砌块的区域集中在湖北地区，现在扩展到河南、山东、江西、上海、广东、内蒙古、河南等地，还在呈现不断扩大的趋势。从箱式景观护坡模具的制作情况来看，该模具除了钢模板外，还有全部塑料制成的，但是在生产成本以及操作简单化来说与钢模板无法相提并论，而且塑料模具使用次数有限，这就增加了模具成本了。箱型砌块一般都是在每个地区的大型预制厂完成的，因为涉及到的生产工艺非常多，而且需要使用行车等辅助工具。预制块在脱模的时候需要倒过来，仿石花纹这一步需要轻拿轻放，这样才能长久使用。
